Been To Como's Lately?

I have and I had a some great food and a great time. Back in the '90's, we went to Como's at least once a week. If you were gay or lesbian or bi or trannie, you felt safe and welcomed at Como's and we took advantage of that.
These days we have a lot of choices in the restaurant arena and that's great for the whole community. Even so, I still love Como's. They're open till 4 am on Friday and Saturday, their patio is awesome, it sits above the traffic a bit so the fumes from the traffic aren't as bad, and they have some of the best pizza in the Metro-Detroit area.

Truly, there's nothing like a hand-tossed crust on a pizza made from freshly made dough, house-made sauce and fresh toppings. (I hate frozen dough, they have to put conditioners in it so they can freeze it and it just doesn't taste the same. Yuck.) They still have their pizza kitchen in the front window and you can watch them as they make the pizza's. I love that.
This week, I stopped in with Linda and we had some of their Toasted Ravioli and some Chicken Parmagiana. I loved both dishes. The Toasted Ravioli was lighter than I thought it would be and it came with a spicy marinara sauce that added a unique edge I thoroughly enjoyed.
I asked for a salad to go with the chicken and was pleasantly surprised with the grape tomatoes, olives, chick peas, onions and a nice, thick, house-made ranch, my favorite dressing and I hate when it's watery and Como's didn't disappoint. The Chicken Parm came with fresh veges and broiled potato wedges. The chicken was lightly breaded, tender and just the right thickness, and the sauce was fresh, bright and well seasoned.
They're coming out with a new menu in the next couple of weeks that includes fresh vegetables, Kobe beef, vegetarian selections and more. I'll be going back soon so I'll keep you posted. After all, the patio's open again and you know they have some great events out there! Check out our events on Meetup.com for our newest event: Drinks, Dinner and Socializing at Como's - it's out on the patio so come and join us!
